How Much Does a Copywriter Cost?

That’s the big question of the day, and there’s not a simple answer. On Fiverr and Upwork, website copywriting costs range from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. On Upwork, to get a copywriter to write your 5-page website, you’ll pay anywhere from $300-$1500, and on Fiverr it ranges from $500-$2000+

It all comes down to what you want your words to do.

Some small businesses and companies pay thousands of dollars for a single website homepage,

because they want their words to work for them.

They want their words to turn a website hit into a customer or client. So, when you find a copywriter who writes words for your website that do this, you realize it’s worth a healthy investment–

because the words on your website will work haaard for your business, over and over, and over again.

But Crystal, how much should I spend on a copywriter? And how do I choose the right copywriter for my project?

Again, that all depends on

  • who you know

  • what your options are

  • and what you want your words to do

Do you *only need content? Do you already have all the clients and customers you want, and your website doesn’t need to serve the purpose of generating new leads? If that’s the case, you may not need to spend a lot on a copywriter. Your website’s main purpose is to show you are a legit, professional business and that’s it.

But, for the rest of us–

Our websites are meant to be lead-generating machines! They are the first stop for potential customers– the first impression, a lot like the store-front of a business.

And we need our words to work for us.

In this case, the right words are invaluable.  My advice on where to find a copywriter

Look for a copywriter who writes about the problem you solve

When you start telling the world about the problem you solve, that’s when people sit up and pay attention.

Look for a copywriter who writes conversion copy so your website hits turn into clients and customers.

Look for a copywriter who has a portfolio or website with examples and previous work.

Look for a copywriter who has positive reviews and feedback from past clients.

And then go with your gut.

Hire the copywriter you connect with most. Don’t go with the cheapest, rather go with the one who will write the best words for your brand or business.

Crystal, how much do you charge for copywriting?
